Bulk Billed
Every eligible service ·
Summervale Medical takes part in the Australian Government’s Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program. Every eligible service is bulk billed for every patient with a valid Medicare card, including standard and long GP consultations, skin checks, health assessments, chronic disease management and mental health treatment plans.
When a service is bulk billed, the practice claims the Medicare benefit directly from Medicare as full payment for that service, rather than invoicing you. All you need to do is bring your valid Medicare card to your appointment.
Most procedures that carry a Medicare item number are also bulk billed, including punch and shave skin biopsies, Implanon removal and insertion, and toenail wedge resections for ingrown toenails.
Not every service has a Medicare item number. Where a service or procedure sits outside the Medicare Benefits Schedule, a fee applies. Some procedures, such as skin excisions, may also carry a gap fee depending on what is required. Your GP will discuss any cost with you beforehand.

Most in-clinic procedures that carry a Medicare item number are bulk billed, including Implanon removal and inseretion, punch skin biopsies and toenail wedge resections for ingrown toenails.
Mental Health Treatment Plans
Mental Health Treatment Plans and review appointments with your GP, and referral to psychologists and other support services.
Fees
What May Incur a Fee
Services We Cannot Claim a Medicare Rebate For
Medicare decides which services attract a rebate. A small number of services sit outside the Medicare Benefits Schedule, which means there is no rebate we are able to claim on your behalf. These services attract a fee.
- Pre-employment medical$205
- Commercial licence medical$175
- Truck Safe medical$220
These fees are current at the time of publication and are subject to change. Our reception team will confirm the cost with you when you book.
Skin Excisions
There may be a gap fee for certain skin excision procedures, depending on what is required. Your GP will discuss this with you before the procedure goes ahead.
Vaccines Not Funded Under the National Immunisation Program
Vaccines funded under the Australian Government’s National Immunisation Program are provided under that program. Vaccines that sit outside it, including most travel vaccinations, are not funded by Medicare, so the cost of the vaccine is not covered.
Patients Without a Medicare Card
Patients who do not hold a valid Medicare card are still welcome at Summervale Medical and can be seen by our GPs. Medicare rebates are not available without a card, so a fee applies for the consultation. Please let our reception team know when you book, and they will confirm the cost with you beforehand.
