Dr James Doyle
MBChB FRACGP
Dr James Doyle is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), the qualification that recognises him as a specialist GP. He genuinely enjoys the variety of general practice and caring for patients at every stage of life, from newborn checks and childhood illnesses to everyday aches and pains, complex diagnoses, skin checks and minor surgical procedures.
Dr James strives to make patients of all ages feel comfortable and heard. He particularly enjoys building relationships with local families and supporting children and parents through their changing healthcare needs.
He is committed to providing consistent, comprehensive and personalised care, with a strong focus on continuity and long-term health and wellbeing. His particular interests include cardiovascular health, children’s and family health, preventative care, healthy and sustainable weight management, DVA care and skin cancer removal.
Having trained in the UK, New South Wales and Queensland, Dr James is proud to bring his skills and experience to the Fernvale community.

Dr James cares for patients of all ages across the full breadth of general practice from newborns and young families through to older adults and veterans in Fernvale, Lowood, Brisbane Valley and the wider Ipswich region.
Skin Checks & Skin Cancer Medicine
Full body skin checks using dermoscopy, mole mapping and monitoring of changing spots, plus assessment and diagnosis of melanoma, basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and sun damage.
Skin Excisions & Minor Surgery
In-clinic removal of skin cancers, moles, cysts, lipomas and skin lesions, including punch and shave biopsies, suturing, cryotherapy and wound care with follow-up histology review.
Ingrown Toenails & Toenail Wedge Resection
Assessment and treatment of painful and recurrent ingrown toenails, including partial nail avulsion and toenail wedge resection under local anaesthetic, with phenolisation to reduce recurrence.
DVA Care for Veterans
Care for Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) White and Gold Card holders, including Veterans’ Health Check, coordinated care planning, referrals and allied health arrangements.
Men’s Health
Prostate and testicular health, cardiovascular risk, cholesterol and blood pressure checks, erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, fatigue, mental health and preventive screening for men of all ages.
Children’s & Family Health
Newborn and baby checks, childhood immunisations, developmental and growth reviews, common childhood illnesses, asthma and eczema, school and sports clearances, and support for parents.
Women’s Health
Cervical screening tests, breast health, contraception advice, menstrual problems, menopause and perimenopause management, and pre-pregnancy planning.
Preventive Health & Health Assessments
Routine health checks, heart and diabetes risk assessment, national cancer screening, cholesterol and blood pressure reviews, and health assessments for patients aged, 45–49 and 75+.
Chronic Disease Management
Ongoing care and GP Management Plans for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, asthma, COPD, thyroid conditions, arthritis and kidney disease, with Team Care Arrangements for allied health.
Healthy & Sustainable Weight Management
Evidence-based, long-term weight management combining nutrition, activity, metabolic assessment and, where appropriate, medical treatment options — without fad diets or quick fixes.
Mental Health Care
Support for anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, grief and sleep difficulties, including Mental Health Treatment Plans, review appointments and referral to psychologists and other support services.
Musculoskeletal & Sports Injuries
Assessment and management of back and neck pain, joint and tendon problems, sprains and strains, sports injuries and osteoarthritis, including imaging, injections where indicated and physiotherapy referral.
Immunisations & Travel Medicine
Routine and catch-up vaccinations for children and adults, influenza and COVID-19 vaccines, shingles and pneumococcal cover, plus travel health advice and destination-specific vaccination.
